The Quarter most famous for host artists, studios and excellent restaurants, and the bohemian aura. One of the most picturesque neighborhoods of Rio, is located at the top of a hill that dominates the northern and southern zones and the City Centre and with pleasant landscapes. In the focal point of the neighborhood in Largo dos Guimarães has its high point gastronomy. Appeared from the convent with the same name, in the eighteenth century, inhabited by the upper class of the time one of the first expansion of the city. Appeared, several large houses and mansions inspired in the French architecture of the time, many of which are standing today. In 1872 came the tram which is the symbol of the neighborhood today.
